Motorola Planning Manufacturing Facility In India:
Motorola, is the maker of Moto G Smartphone mobile handset assessing the options to set up a manufacturing facility in India. To cash in on the sprouting demand for smartphones in India.
Motorola Senior Marketing Director Europe, said that “Evaluation is going on… We will have news soon,” Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific Marcus Frost told PTI. The company is considering for setting up a production unit in India.
Frost said, India is a huge market for the company and it has seen strong sales of its devices, especially Moto G.
He declined to disclose however, further details and timeline for the same. Motorola Company makes the devices in China and Latin America. Motorola had a plant already in Chennai, which was shutted down a few years ago.
Motorola joins into a growing list of global smartphone makers, including Gionee and Xiaomi are considering manufacturing in our Country, where the government is forcing its ‘Make in India’ initiative.
India is one of the fastest growing smartphone markets in worldwide.
According to research firm Cyber Media Research, 19.5 million smartphones were shipped in India in the March 2015 quarter.
